What to know about Visiting the Farm on Open Field Days
What to Bring or Wear
Bug Repellent. We are pollinator and wildlife friendly. You will definitely see birds, bees and butterflies; you may also encounter spiders, mosquitos, and ticks.
Closed toe shoes or boots. High heels, sandals or flip-flops are not recommended. The ground on the farm can be soft, rocky, muddy, or uneven. If you want dressy shoes for photos, bring them along and change for the picture.
Sunscreen and a hat. We have shaded woodland areas and few tables set up with shade umbrellas, but the flowers are in open fields full of sunshine. Picking flowers can be surprisingly hot work!
Water bottles. We have complimentary water in our shop, but it is best to keep hydrated in the field.
Floral scissors, clippers or by-pass style pruners to cut your flowers. If you plan to cut sunflowers, a by-pass style pruner is recommended.
Camera. We love to see our customers’ pictures! Please feel free to tag us on Instagram at #graystemfarmflowers
What to Leave Behind
All your cares and stresses!
Glass containers are prohibited in the parking area, trails, and flower fields. A harvest cup is included in the price for picking your bouquet.
You may also bring plastic, ceramic, or metal containers if you wish to arrange your flowers here. We’re happy to help with tips and tricks.
Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc. Smoking or vaping anywhere on the property is prohibited and this includes parking areas. Fire safety first!
Pets. We know this is a hard one as our pets are part of our family too; and because our farm is home to working dogs, cats, and chickens, we cannot permit guest animals except for working service dogs. We fully support service dogs as defined by the ADA. A working service dog will be on a short (less than 6 foot) non-retractable lead, under the owner’s control at all times, and has been trained not to give in to nature’s calls while on the job. Anyone bringing an animal that is out of control, marking plants, defecating anywhere, harassing our animals, or other guests, will be asked to leave the farm. No exceptions
